Inpatient Rehabs

Going into an inpatient drug rehab center is probably one of the scariest things to face. It’s a sure bet that things are going to be a lot different. Even if the attitude of the center is considered “laid-back”, with patients given, as much time as they feel they need to get adjusted and begin participating in the programs, there will still more than likely be a sense of hesitancy. If that’s the strongest emotion felt, then that is good.

More likely, the operative word will be “fear”. Fear that the patient won’t be able to “hack it”, won’t be able to make it through the first week…make that the first day…OK, the first HOUR. Even if enough time has passed that the worst of the withdrawal symptoms are over, there’s still going to be that concern.

That’s all right. At least something besides misery or disgust is being felt. It may be that it’s been so long since a patient felt anything other than a craving for that next “fix” or drink, that another emotion, even one that can still be listed in the “negatives” column is almost welcome.

The staff at the inpatient drug rehab center, no matter if it is a relaxed atmosphere, or is run more along the lines of a modified “boot camp” will take all that into consideration. No one is going to be made to feel any worse than they probably already do or have; rather, the patient is going to receive encouragement and support during the first few days or weeks.
