Drug rehab treatment is probably going to be as different as the programs are. That’s fine, different is good. What’s even better, though, is getting a person off drugs. And, whatever type of treatment does that is a good treatment.

Some people may require that anything and everything that can be done be done in order to get them on the road to recovery. They may need extensive medical treatment before they can even start to think about group therapy, individual therapy, or anything of that nature. Others may be able to sit down with the people providing the drug rehab treatment and say, “Look, I think I’d like to try this and this first. Then, if that doesn’t work, we can try something else.” If everyone agrees, then those methods can be used, progress monitored, and adjustments made if needed.

Other patients may not necessarily be there because they realized they needed help; these people may have been told that they were to get help or suffer other, more serious consequences, such as the loss of a job or the threat of a jail term. They may need some persuading to even try anything. The personnel at the facility may have to pretty much tell them, “This is what you’re going to do, and this is how it’s going to be. If you do this, we’ll send a good report on you. If you don’t, we’ll have to tell the truth, and you may end up in a lot of trouble.” Hopefully, these people will realize that they do need help, and will accept what is offered.
